12 of My Favorite Instant Pot Recipes {Tried and Tasty!}

Although I haven’t yet tried to make yogurt in my Instant Pot®, I have managed to try quite a few different recipes. So, today, I thought I’d share 12 of my favorite Instant Pot recipes that I’ve tried so far.

12 of My Favorite Instant Pot Recipes by The Birch Cottage

You know, we’ll be in the full swing of summer before you know it and I think the electric pressure cooker is the perfect way to beat the summer heat in the kitchen!

What’s an Instant Pot? And why do I need/want one?

If you’re here and you’re wondering what all the hype is about the Instant Pot or maybe if it’s really worth the money, then you’ve come to the right place. I’ve tried to provide you with information so you can make the best informed decision. I truly love my Instant Pot. I use it quite a bit, but not near as much as I probably should or could. Truth.

I actually already shared a few posts or opinions on the Instant Pot, including telling you all about the Instant Pot and the 12 things I thought you should know before you purchase an electric pressure cooker.  As well as some of my favorite accessories, resources and cookbooks.

Please note this post contains affiliate links to products I recommend. If you click on a link and make a purchase, I may make a small commission at absolutely no additional cost to you. Cool, right?! You should also know the opinions are 100% my own and I only ever share products I either currently use or plan to purchase based on reputation or functionality.

There are a couple of accessories I don’t currently have that I’ve now added to my wish list. I’ll share them below. The first is for making yogurt. It’s quite a process to make homemade yogurt and that’s simply why I haven’t tried it yet. But, summer’s coming and it might be a nice treat during the hot weather!

The second accessory is a steamer basket with a nice handle. My steamer basket has a little hook that connects to a ring. It simply doesn’t make for a very sturdy way to remove the steamer basket so I usually end up pouring the contents into a strainer instead. (So glad the Instant Pot has a removable inner pot!)

Here are my reasons for using and recommending an Instant Pot:

  1. One pot meal preparation
  2. No boiled over mess on the stove
  3. Easy to clean
  4. Replaces other small appliances
  5. Cooks some foods (like frozen chicken) faster
  6. No need to heat up your kitchen
  7. It sautes!
  8. Food tastes amazing!

If those reasons appeal to you, then an Instant Pot might just be right for you! There truly are a gazillion uses for an electric pressure cooker, the Instant Pot (in my opinion) just does all those and so much more that much better! This opinion, by the way, is 100% my own and not influenced by anyone but me.

So, back to the recipes…..

12 of My Favorite Instant Pot Recipes

We all have to start somewhere when it comes to learning how to use the Instant Pot. I’ll admit, all the buttons and functionality can be a little intimidating at first. There’s no better way to learn than to just jump right in. By the way, if you’d like some cookbook recommendations, you’ll find those here.

You can easily make any of the recipes that I’m sharing with you today. I made them. You can, too! (The recipes aren’t listed in any particular order.)

#1 – Boiled Eggs

Make these Instant Pot Boiled Eggs just in time for all your Easter egg needs!

I recently shared my perfect boiled eggs recipe for the Instant Pot right here on The Birch Cottage blog. I LOVE making boiled eggs in the electric pressure cooker because of reason #2 above (no boiled over mess on the stove); plus, they come out perfect. Just perfect!

Of course, if you want a second opinion, look no further than The Prairie Homestead for Jill’s Instant Pot Hard Boiled Eggs recipe!

#2 – Potato Salad

Oh my gosh! Did you know you can cook the potatoes and eggs all at the same time? And, all without a boiled over mess? (I see a recurring theme here, do you?) You’ll find my recipe for Instant Pot Potato Salad here.

#3 – Baked Potatoes

Instant Pot Baked Potato by Self Proclaimed Foodie

Baked potatoes are a true comfort food to my husband. Loaded with butter and sour cream – it’s just so yummy and comforting on these cold Ohio winter nights. Plus, you can make them in the Instant Pot without even heating up your oven.

If you like the skins a little crispy, just through them in the oven for a few minutes after they’re cooked. You’ll find the full Instant Pot Baked Potato Recipe on Self Proclaimed Foodie.

#4 – Mashed Potatoes

Instant Pot Mashed Potatoes by Pinch of Yum

Okay, so who doesn’t love mashed potatoes? Well, then, how about amazing mashed potatoes that are cooked perfectly and in about 20 minutes? Of course, I love most of the recipes from Pinch of Yum and Lindsay’s Instant Pot Mashed Potatoes is no exception!

#5 – Meatloaf

Instant Pot Meatloaf by Kitchen Dreaming

You could simply take my amazingly moist meatloaf recipe and make it in the Instant Pot, but I just had to try this Instant Pot Pressure Cooker Meatloaf from Kitchen Dreaming. It’s amazing! We loved it and I’m sure you will, too!

#6 – Beef Stew

Instant Pot Beef Stew by Life Made Sweeter

Talk about comfort food! This Instant Pot Beef Stew from Life Made Sweeter is exactly that! Make this recipe. That’s pretty much all I gotta say. You won’t regret it and you can thank me later! Seriously. That. Good.

#7 – Frozen Chicken

Instant Pot Frozen Chicken Breasts by The Recipe Rebel

Yes, it’s true. You can cook frozen chicken (and other frozen meats) in the Instant Pot. They will (amazingly) turn out perfectly tender, juicy and flavorful. The Recipe Rebel shows you exactly how to cook frozen chicken in the Instant Pot. Sit back and be amazed!

Then, if you want to make shredded chicken, you can follow my super clever and easy trick for making shredded chicken without burning your fingers!

#8 – Low Country Shrimp Boil

Instant Pot Low Country Shrimp Boil by Scattered Thoughts of a Crafty Mom

I’ve actually made this Low Country Shrimp Boil recipe from Jamie at Scattered Thoughts of a Crafty Mom twice now. If you love seafood and shrimp boils, you’ll love this recipe.

Again, it’s one pot, no mess, delicious food! This has got to be one of my most favorite Instant Pot recipes. My only word of caution is to not overcook the food. I accidentally unplugged my pressure cooker one time and I had no idea how much time had passed and guessed. I ended up overcooking my shrimp boil. It still tasted amazing, but was just a little more done that I would liked.

#9 – Sweet BBQ Meatballs

Instant Pot Sweet BBQ Meatballs by Pressure Cooking Today

You probably thought BBQ Meatballs just couldn’t get any easier than my Barbecue Sauce and Grape Jelly Crockpot Meatballs, right?

Well, what if you don’t have all day to cook your frozen meatballs? And what if you want your meatballs ready to eat in the next 30 minutes? You will definitely want to follow this Pressure Cooker Sweet Barbecue Meatballs from Pressure Cooking Today!

#10 – Ham Bone and 15 Bean Soup

Instant Pot Ham Bone and 15 Bean Soup by The Birch Cottage

I can’t even begin to tell you how many times I’ve prepared this Ham Bone and 15 Bean Soup in my Instant Pot! Who knew you could take dry beans and make ready-to-eat soup in less than an hour total? It turns out so rich, flavorful and perfectly tender!

You’ll find my recipe for this Ham Bone and 15 Bean Soup on Kenarry: Ideas for the Home. I even make chili now using my Instant Pot and a variation of this bean soup recipe. Absolutely one of our family’s favorite Instant Pot recipes!

#11 – Strawberry Jam

Instant Pot Strawberry Jam by One Good Thing by Jillee

If our son sees this post, he’ll be begging his wife to make this Strawberry Jam in her new electric pressure cooker. I love the simplicity of this Strawberry Jam recipe from Jillee at One Good Thing. All you need are: strawberries, sugar and an orange.

(Have you tried making infused honey syrup in your Instant Pot? I have not, but I definitely want to give it a try. Marci from Tidbits shares not only this infused honey syrup recipe, but you’ll also find information on making yogurt and all sorts of other Instant Pot recipes.)

#12 – Dulce de Leche

Instant Pot Dulce de Leche by I Wash You Dry

When I first tried making Dulce de leche, I actually stuck the whole can in my Instant Pot and cooked the sweetened cream right in the un-opened can. When I popped the lid on the can, I was amazed at the creamy goodness inside!

I was a little concerned about the safety of cooking the cream under pressure in a sealed can, so I scoured Pinterest and found this Instant Pot Dulce de Leche recipe from I Wash You Dry. You’re gonna love it. Bonus? It’s super, super, super easy!!

Is your pot a slow cooker or a pressure cooker, never heard of what your using.. Thaks

Sandy, it’s actually both! The Instant Pot is an electric pressure cooker and slow cooker in one, plus a number of other functions. It’s considered a multi-function cooker. And it’s pretty amazing! The recipes in this post were all used with the electric pressure cooker function. Hope this helps! If you have more questions, just ask!
