See how easy it is to sew a Christmas Stocking with this Easy Christmas Stocking Pattern from Hooked on Sewing!
You may recall that I previously shared with you How to Sew a Large Christmas Stocking. That stocking is my favorite size because it’s so large! It’s the perfect size for Santa to fill!
But, what if you don’t want a LARGE Christmas stocking? Well, I have the perfect pattern on Hooked on Sewing.

Christmas Stocking Pattern by Hooked on Sewing
You will find the full written tutorial, can download the pattern, and watch the video tutorial over on Hooked on Sewing.
Supplies Needed
- 1/2 yard cotton fabric for exterior*
- 1/2 yard cotton fabric for lining
- 1/4 yard cotton fabric for cuff
- 1/2 yard fusible interfacing or fusible fleece (I like to use Pellon SF101 or 987F)
- thread ( I like Gutermann brand.)
*NOTE: You may need additional fabric if you use directional fabric.

Equipment & Tools Needed
- scissors
- rotary cutter
- cutting mat
- pins or Wonder clips
- sewing machine
- walking foot (helpful, but not mandatory – my machine uses this foot)
- 80/12 sewing machine needle
Stocking Measurements
Easy Christmas Stocking
The finished Easy Christmas Stocking Pattern that you’ll find on the Hooked on Sewing blog measures approximately 8″ wide at the toe, 6-1/2″ wide at the top of the cuff, and 17-1/2″ long.
Large Christmas Stocking
The Large Christmas Stocking Pattern that you’ll find here on The Birch Cottage measures approximately 9-1/4″ across the top and approximately 21-1/2″ long. A nice size stocking for stuffing.
So, take your pick! Both patterns are constructed the same way. One Christmas stocking is just larger than the other!
