With just one skein of cotton yarn, you can easily make a set of four boho style crochet coasters. Plus, the choice of cotton yarn makes these boho style coasters extra absorbent.

I had a reader contact me a week or so ago wanting to know if I had any crochet coaster patterns on my blog. Well, of course, I’ve crocheted my share of coasters. But, for some reason, I’ve never shared the patterns here on the blog.

You know, my children are the recipients of my crochet experiment projects. When I want to crochet some coasters, for example, I don’t usually have a pattern – but, I do usually have an idea in my mind of how I want them to look.

So, I pick up some yarn and crochet away. Of course, that also means I do a lot of frogging, too! (Actually, that might be a little bit of an understatement.) Well, once I have successfully crocheted what I think will become a pattern, I take the time to re-create it and write out the instructions as I go.

There really is a lot to creating crochet patterns that you publish and share with other people. The last thing I want to do is to share a pattern with you that has a step missing, or wrong stitch count. I don’t consider myself an “professional crochet pattern designer”, but I typically do create my own patterns.

Enough on that subject, let’s take a look at the instructions for this easy to crochet Boho Style Crochet Coaster Pattern!

These coasters or mug rugs are not only perfect for your own personal use, but would make a great gift for family and friends. I also think they’d be great in a little gift basket. So, no matter what you call them, they’ve got plenty of boho style!

Plus, the fact that they’re crocheted with two strands of cotton yarn makes them extra absorbent!

Two Strands Held Together

Two strands of cotton yarn

Anyway, these coasters are crocheted with two strands of yarn held together as if they were one strand. I used Lily Sugar’n Cream brand yarn from Yarnspirations.

Instead of using two skeins of yarn, I simply crochet with both ends held together. I pull one end from the middle or inside of the skein and also use the other end that is wrapped around the outside of the skein of yarn. This technique works out great with this particular yarn.
