As I was working on creating some patriotic cupcake toppers, I thought it would be really cool to create some Canada Day Cupcake Toppers for our Canadian friends, too. You see, we really do have Canadian friends.
Our family vacations in Canada every summer. In fact, my husband’s family has vacationed in French River, Ontario, Canada for well over 50 years. It started with Lenny’s grandparents and it’s been a family tradition ever since.
In fact, it’s been a few years since we’ve taken any of our children because they’ve grown up and have lives of their own. Lenny and I still make the trip every summer and it just breaks our hearts every time we have to say good bye. This summer, the kids surprised their dad and our three youngest will be joining us on the French River! I can’t even tell you how excited my husband is about this vacation!
Canada Day – A History Lesson
Canada Day is July 1st and unlike Independence Day here in the United States, Canada Day is an anniversary celebration. Canada Day celebrates the joining on July 1, 1867, of the colonies of Canada, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.
You can read more about the history of Canada and Canada Day on Wikipedia.

There are four designs for these Canada Day cupcake toppers. They were created using Avery’s Design & Print Online Software and are compatible with Avery 22817 Labels.
I don’t have actual photos of the cupcake toppers in use because, well, we ate the cupcakes! Things like that happen around my house. But printing and using the cupcake toppers couldn’t be easier.
- Simply download and print out the cupcake toppers on Avery 22817 printable labels. (You could also print them on cardstock.)
- Place a toothpick or skewer on the back (sticky side), near the bottom, of one of the cupcake topper labels.
- Please a second label on the back of the first, sandwiching the toothpick in the middle and with adhesive sides together.
- Done! You now have a Canada Day Cupcake Topper!
You can use the Canada Day Cupcake Topper in the top of your cupcakes, cakes, fruit, hamburg buns or any dish to add a little festive red and white to your Canada Day holiday decor!

Thanks, Mary Anne! I do mention that Canada Day this year is July 1st. You’ll find the information under “Canada Day - A History Lesson”. If you missed it, then I clearly didn’t make that fact very apparent! Hope you have a great holiday!
