May 6, 2021 – New Features and Updates to Design Space (v6.8)
This Design Space for Desktop release (v6.8) contains the following features, enhancements, and fixes:
- Login Experience Update
- Translate for Community Project Details
- Inspirational Share
- Updated Font Filter
- Select/deselect filters via checkbox
- My Fonts filter is removed
- Saved for Offline filter is renamed Downloaded
- Can now select multiple filters at once (but cannot select Multi-Layer and Single-Layer at the same time)
- Number of selected filters shows next to filter drop down
Login Experience Update
The very first thing you will notice with the version 6.8 release, is the Login Experience Update. Once you install v6.8, you’ll be prompted to login again to Cricut Design Space. The login is different from previous versions and looks like the following:

Cricut says this new login experience provides a more seamless and secure connection to your Cricut account.
Translate for Community Project Details
On Cricut Ready-to-Make projects you can select to translate the language for the project description. Now you can also translate Community project details! When your selected Design Space language and the project source language are not the same, a Translate button will appear on the Community project details. Simply select Translate to see project details in your selected Design Space language. To view details in the source language again, select Show Original Text. Design Space will also remember your language translate preference for that session.
Inspirational Share
As you probably know, if a Community project contains uploaded images or fonts or content that is no longer available, you cannot Customize or Make the project. It can simply be seen as inspiration only. To make this more clear, Cricut has updated community project details screens: Customize and Make It buttons have been removed and an Information icon added to provide details about why the project cannot be made or customized.

March 12, 2021 – New Features and Updates to Design Space
Cricut announced that there would be quite a few changes coming to Cricut Design Space. Some of these changes have already taken place. Here’s a list of the latest updates and changes:
- Offset
- Project Collections
- Kerning (coming soon)
- Education Videos
- Pen Thickness on Canvas
- Profile Search
- “My Project” Search
- Faster Image and Text Load
- Copy and paste between projects
- Image and pattern uploads
You can refer to this article from Cricut for more information on the March 12, 2021 update. Here are some things I thought worth mentioning.
Education Videos
Cricut has added a section titled Top Video Playlists. You should notice it as soon as you login to Design Space. Wondering how to navigate Design Space? There’s a video for that! Or do you have questions about weeding? There’s a video for that! There aren’t currently a lot of videos available, but I think it’s great that video tutorials will be so easily accessible. There’s even a link that you take you to Cricut’s YouTube channel, if you prefer to watch videos on YouTube.

Profile Search
Do you have a favorite Cricut crafter or blogger that you like to follow? Well, now you can find them and follow them within Cricut Design Space. In fact, you can try searching for my name, either Pam Baker or The Birch Cottage or simply click here to view my profile in Design Space.
So, searching and finding someone’s profile couldn’t be easier. Just scroll down to From the Community section and look to the far right. You should see a search box that reads “Search for community members”. Simply type in someone’s name or part of their name and click on search. If there’s more than one match, you’ll see a drop-down list of names to choose from.

As soon as you select a name, that person’s profile page will open in Design Space. Then you can select to Follow that person, if you wish.
Copy & Paste Between Projects
I have already shared a tutorial on how to combine projects in Cricut Design Space. This is exactly what the copy & paste between projects allows you to do. This feature, along with a few of the others like kerning and offset, have been a much anticipated feature.

In fact, with the release of the new Cricut Mug Press, having the capability of copying and pasting into the design template is practically essential.

Changes to Uploads {Important Info for FREE Design Space Users}
This change is fairly new and Cricut users are already grumbling about it. Let me explain.
Cricut originally announced that IF you are not a Cricut Access member, you will soon be limited to 20 uploads of images and patterns (combined total) per month. This limited plan will be called the Cricut Access Free Plan and that plan will limit you to the number of uploads you can make in a calendar month. HOWEVER, enough people from the Cricut users’ community voiced their concerns and/or objections and Cricut responded accordingly.
So, as of now, anyone who purchases a Cricut machine between now and December 31, 2021 will have unlimited upload capabilities at no additional cost. You can read more about this decision here. Of course, this is all subject to change and I’ll be sure to keep you updated right here.
Cricut does have a Image & Pattern Upload FAQ page, so be sure to read that if you do not currently subscribe to Cricut Access. I am a Cricut Access member and I absolutely love it and think it’s so worth it!
