Lenny and I took our youngest son/child (aka the baby boy) to college some 135 miles away from home. On our way home, we stopped at Grandpa’s Cheese Barn in Ashland, Ohio. Among other things, we bought a bag of White Hulless Popcorn. The bag of popcorn kernels came in a burlap bag. When we got home and I opened the popcorn, the burlap bag caught my attention and I thought, “Hey, what a cute idea for some DIY Burlap Gift Bags!”
I could simply sew up three sides of a rectangular (bag) shaped piece of burlap, but first I would pull out a few strands of the horizontal pieces of burlap to allow room to weave a ribbon. Can you picture it?
Then I thought, “Hey, what if I stamped a design on the front of the bag?” OK, the possibilities now seem endless to me. Then the next leap was, “Hey, why limit this to just burlap?” And, more importantly, why hadn’t I thought to make these before? I mean, how often have I needed a small gift bag only to have to go to the store, buy the bag, buy the tissue paper and buy a gift tag.
Sometimes I arrive to the party just a little late. 🙂
