DIY Tile Placemats

And you’ll probably be wondering why you didn’t think of this project! I got this idea browsing the aisles of Home Depot one day. You only need a few items to complete this project and when I say your options are endless, I really mean you have a ton of options. Just browse through the tile section of your local Home Depot or your favorite home improvement store and you’ll see what I mean.

I even thought I could maybe make coasters out of these tiles using the same technique. But, like I said, you can read all about it over on Kenarry: Ideas for the Home today. You know, I’m really fortunate that I get to work with some great people like Carrie from Kenarry: Ideas for the Home. She and her husband have really big hearts and they’re truly gracious, caring and inspiring. You’ll also find tons of ideas for the home, so what’s not to like?

DIY Placemats

While you’re visiting Kenarry: Ideas for the Home, be sure to check out these other DIY placemat project ideas, like my easy sew DIY burlap placemats tutorial that I shared on Kenarry some time ago or this clever use of permanent markers to make these DIY Burlap Placemats from Green with Decor:

Do you use placemats? Placemats really serve a multitude of purposes, like protecting your table top, adding a decorative element to your table, entertaining (think coloring pages) or if you’re in business, maybe even to do some advertising.

When my children were young, I used vinyl placemats all the time. It just made clean-up so much easier. Then as the kids learned to eat using silverware and got less and less spills on the table, I switched over to cloth placemats. I just think they add a nice polished touch to the table setting or tablescape as I guess it’s referred to now. When did decorating the table become such an art form? I like my table to be a little simpler, plus we have to save room for all the food, right?!

These DIY Tile Placemats really were so super easy to make and they just add a little touch of elegance to your table without overdoing it. If you have DIY placemat or table setting ideas, I’d love to hear about it!

Til next time…
