Use this free project file for Cricut Design Space to create fabric heart cutout cards with envelopes – perfect for Valentine’s Day!
I was browsing online one day when I stumbled across some adorable little Valentine’s Day cards that had these cute little cutout hearts. Behind the heart cutouts was red fabric. When I saw these cards, I had an aha moment. “Hey, I bet I can create these fabric heart cutout cards in Cricut Design Space!” And so I did!
But, you know, for the life of me, I cannot remember where I saw these cute little Valentine’s Day cards that inspired me to create this project in Cricut Design Space. If you know, please let me know as I had really planned to link to the creator’s original project.

Before I talk about this fabric heart cutout cards project, let me talk to you a little bit about Cricut Access™ and why you just might want to subscribe, if you haven’t already.
All About Cricut Access
These cards were designed in Cricut Design Space and you must be a subscriber to Cricut Access™ to use the images in this project file. By the way, if you’ve been wondering about Cricut Access and whether it’s worth the money, I say “Yes!”. A resounding yes if you plan to use your Cricut cutting machine regularly.
Having said that, IF you are not going to design your own projects and only use what someone else has designed, then Access is probably not for you. But, if you really want to take advantage of all that your Cricut has to offer, I highly recommend subscribing to Cricut Access.

What is Cricut Access?
Cricut Access is a monthly or yearly subscription (currently $9.99/mo or $95.88 to $119.88/yr) to thousands of exclusive fonts and images that are only available with a subscription, and cannot be purchased individually or in sets. These include some of Cricut’s most beautiful and distinctive designs. So Cricut Access subscribers have exclusive access to content that makes their projects truly stand out.
Can I purchase Cricut Access if I’m located outside the US?
Here is Cricut’s response to this question:
- At this time, members in the U.S. and Canada may purchase their subscription to Cricut Access on cricut.com, or in the Design Space for Desktop, iOS, and Android apps.
- Members in the U.K. and Australia can purchase their plan through Design Space for Desktop, iOS, and Android apps.

- fabric scraps
- glue or glue stick
- Cricut StandardGrip Mat
- Cricut Fabric Mat
- Cricut Fine Point Blade

*You can also use the Cricut Joy or Explore Air 2 with this project. I would recommend simply cutting the squares of fabric out using a rotary cutter, cutting mat and acrylic ruler.

- Design Space will launch and the details of the project file will open for you to review the details of the file. The Project Details includes pictures, description, and all the fonts and images used in the project. You can even select to Print the project details if you want. When you're ready to start using the project file, click on Customize.
- With the project now open in Design Space, the very first thing you will want to do is to either Hide or Delete the Weld Result Layer that contains some helpful notes about which image uses cardstock, paper and fabric. Obviously, you don't want to cut or print these notes. I added them for clarification only.
Notes
If you plan to cut the fabric out using your Cricut, I recommend using the Cricut Maker. I actually found it faster to cut out the fabric squares using a rotary cutter, cutting mat and acrylic ruler while the cardstock was being cut out.
