Christmas (gasp!!) is just a week away! If you’re looking for a last minute Christmas DIY project, these Home State Prints are the perfect project!
You know, there really is no place like home for the holidays.
When our daughter Stephanie was a little girl, she loved to watch The Wizard of Oz. Now that she’s all grown up, she still loves all things Oz. You know, Dorothy, may have very well been on to something when she said “There’s no place like home.”
Even when Lenny and I travel, I’m always looking forward to being home. We’ve actually been to some amazing places like the French River in Ontario, Puerto Morales in Mexico, the Grand Canyon in Arizona, Las Vegas in Nevada, Bryce Canyon in Utah, the Rocky Mountains in Colorado, the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, the USS Essex in San Diego, the Gulf of Mexico, the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans and many places in-between.
But don’t you think there’s just something special about the Christmas holiday season that tugs at the heart and makes people long to be home for the holidays? There’s even something a little magical about being home for Christmas. No matter where life takes you, when you return home, it just feels right.
When I talk to our daughter Kristen who’s stationed in San Diego in the Navy, you can just tell by the tone of her voice that she’s so looking forward to being home for the holidays. I’m sure it goes without saying, but my husband and I cannot wait for her to be home!
Then there’s our son Brandon who’s stationed in Georgia in the Army and just recently returned home from deployment. He wasn’t able to celebrate Christmas with us last year, but he’ll be home for Christmas this year (along with our adorable twin granddaughters)!
I hope that our home will always be “home” to our children. They may live far away, across town or just a few blocks away, They may even have their very own homes. (Which, I hope they do!) But, I hope there will still always be a little place in their heart that draws them home for the holidays.
