One of the teacher’s at my high school has a big farm and along with the normal farm livestock, they have a huge apple orchard. I mentioned to her how well the Asian pears on our tree were this year and she said they had a bumper crop of really good apples this year as well. Of course, I immediately placed an order for some Honeycrisp apples. With a nice supply of Honeycrisp apples, I began my search for the best Honeycrisp Apple Recipes.

What is a Honeycrisp Apple?

What is a Honeycrisp Apple? It is a large, super crispy, juicy, sweet, but tart apple that was actually developed by the University of Minnesota to withstand colder climates.

It is perfect for baking, cooking, serving on salads or simply eating. Once you bite into a Honeycrisp, it will quickly become one of your favorite apples.

Below you will find a collection of 7-1/2 (I modified one of the recipes to come up with my own version) recipes that absolutely bring out the best that autumn has to offer for Honeycrisp apples.  Try one, try them all, but please try them! You won’t be disappointed.

Puff Pastry Apple Turnovers

Apple Turnovers by Stone Gable Blog

The first Honeycrisp apple recipe I tried was this Puff Pastry Apple Turnover recipe from Yvonne at Stone Gable Blog. I actually made this recipe using my oh so yummy Honeycrisp apples and, if I do say so myself, my Apple Turnovers turned out full of that flaky goodness that you’d expect from puff pastry and the apples and cinnamon?? Well, it just doesn’t get much better!

I borrowed the Stone Gable’s recipe above, substituting my tart, crisp, juicy Honeycrisp apples and created this Honeycrisp Apple Turnovers recipe. One of the great things about this recipe is that you can easily freeze these turnovers for baking later – or, if you’re like me, you just have to bake them right away! Either way, you’ll have perfect apple turnovers in no time.

But, that’s not enough for this Honeycrisp apple obsessed girl. I had to find more uses for my Honeycrisp apples. Here are some delicious sounding recipes that I just can’t wait to try.
