Why is this special. Well, if you’re not familiar with a template, let me explain. A template is a document or file that is used so that the format does not have to be recreated each time it is used. So, you or someone else created the original design. Then you decide to share it with someone. Canva let’s you create a link to the file and makes a copy of that file that the person with the link can now edit and make a copy of for their own use.

How to Share a Canva File

Before you can share a Canva file, you do have to have a Canva account. Likewise, before someone can use or edit a shared Canva file, they too must have a Canva account.

But, you can setup an account and use Canva for FREE! They do have membership plans, but you can use most of the features with the free plan.

Why share a Canva file?

There are a lot of reasons you may want to share a file or use a shared file. For example, I have created some handmade gift tags and I would just love to share them with you. By sharing the file with you, you don’t have to create the design, I’ve already designed it for you. You can, however, edit the file by changing the font type, changing the content, or even adding content such as images or graphics.

So, using a shared file allows the creator to protect the original file and allows the sharee to have a copy of the file that they can edit however they see fit.

Let’s take a look at the steps involved in sharing a Canva file.
