Irish Blessing Prints Just in Time for St Patrick’s Day

Supposedly, some of my father’s ancestors came from Ireland. So, I suppose that makes me part-Irish, right? Years ago, I started researching our family history and then, like a lot of things, life got in the way and I quit doing the research. Then, fortunately, my sister picked up the ancestry bug and actually traced our ancestors back quite a few generations. In honor of my family’s ancestry, I’ve created these Irish Blessing Prints for you and just in time for St. Patrick’s Day!

Do you have any idea why we celebrate St. Patrick’s Day? I mean, I’m sure it’s not just an excuse to pinch people who aren’t wearing green. According to Wikipedia, St. Patrick’s Day is also known as the Feast of Saint Patrick and it is celebrated in more countries than any other national festival. Amazing, right? Be sure to read the article about Saint Patrick’s Day over on Wikipedia. It’s pretty interesting stuff!

Since Saint Patrick’s Day is celebrated more than any other national festival, it seems befitting to share these Irish Blessing prints with you. I have created four prints in all and you can download one or all of them. The files have been saved as high definition PDF. You can easily download, print, frame, mat or just hang on the wall as is.

For the best results, I recommend printing on heavy stock paper like this linen card stock. You can then trim the print down as necessary to fit into an 8×10 frame. I found this frame on Amazon and I thought it was just gorgeous – not to mention, a perfect home for one of these prints!

Don’t you just love this Irish Blessing? I mean, seriously! It really made me laugh out loud!

May those who love us,
love us.

And those who
don’t love us,

May God turn
their hearts;

And if He doesn’t
turn their hearts,

May he turn
their ankles

So we’ll know them
by their limping.

What kind of Irish blessing is this? Too funny! That’s all I’ve got to say about it!

For some reason, I didn’t like this “By Their Limping” print as much with the watercolor background, so I made it available without the watercolor as well.

In all seriousness, this Irish Blessing print has got to be my favorite. The first time I ever heard this Irish Blessing was when Will Smith recited it in the movie Hitch. When he first started quoting the Irish Blessing, I thought it was kind of weird considering the setting, but as the toast went on, it left me feeling in awe. This Irish Blessing is a little bit of Valentine’s Day and St. Patrick’s Day all rolled into one!

I just love you site! I enjoy it so much unfortunately I can't print these right now, due to my own difficulties but plan to reason. Thank you for taking the time to make such inspiring material that all of us can use. Diane K. Brimmer

Thank you for these wonderful blessings. I can't wait to use them on a quilt for my daughter. There is only one small problem; the last line of "May you never steal" reads " I could never "life" a day without you instead of "live" a day

Pat, again, I'm so sorry about the typo. I've updated the files. Please let me know if you have any further problems. Thanks, again!!

Boy, how did that slip by! My photos say "live", but you're right, the actual print says "life". I probably won't get a chance to correct that until later this evening. I'll let you know as soon as it's available! And thank you so much for letting me know!!
