Just a boy and his dog

There’s something about seeing just a boy and his dog that makes you think all is right with the world. Owen is the baby of the family and he will be graduating from high school in just a few short days. Amazing! Remo is our German Shepherd. We think he’s adorable. He’s recently started growing gray little whiskers, which, in our opinion, just makes him look even cuter. Remo adores Owen and Owen’s heart just melts for Remo.

Remo is a member of our family and, as such, we take him with us just about everywhere we go. Family vacations. Visiting relatives. Road trips. He’s only about 4 years old now, but he’s been a big part of our lives. Owen and Remo will play tug of war, wrestle on the floor, chase balls and frisbees and even swim together.

Remo has “rescued” Owen from the French River. Jumped off the dock to chase after Owen’s fishing lure. Played hide-and-seek in the woods. And, my personal favorite, jumped up on Owen’s bed and climbed all over him trying to wake him up in the mornings.

I’m really glad we have Remo and that Owen has had an opportunity to bond with him and have him become an important part of his life before he ventures off into the big world and goes to college this fall. Remo will miss Owen and I’m sure Owen will miss Remo. All is indeed right with the world even if it’s just a boy and his dog.
