Use a super lightweight embroidery machine thread for embroidered text ¼" or less in height. Exquisite Fine Line by dime (Designs in Machine Embroidery) is a 60-weight thread.
Have you ever tried to machine embroider ¼" high text (or shorter) and just had illegible results? Well, there's a solution for that!

Fine Line by Exquisite - Embroidery Machine Thread
As I've shared before, I have collaborated with dime (Designs in Machine Embroidery). They send me products to try in exchange for my review and/or tutorials on how to use their products. Having said that, please know that I always give 100% honest reviews.

Questions
Q: What is File Line Embroidery Machine Thread?
Exquisite Fine Line Embroidery Machine Thread is a super lightweight embroidery and quilting thread designed to eliminate bulk and create crisp detail with clear, readable text.
It is a 60-weight polyester thread. The spools contain 1,500 meters of thread or approximately 74 yards.
Q: What is it used for?
The Fine Line Thread is specifically designed for use with embroidered text ¼" or less in height. Because it is a finer polyester thread, it is strong enough for machine embroidery and thin enough so that it produces text that is easy to ready and with crisp detail.
Q: Can I Use Fine Line for Quilting?
Yes! Again, because it is a 60-weight thread, it's perfect for quilting anytime you want less bulk from your quilting thread.
Q: Where Can I Buy Exquisite Thread?
Of course, you can buy Exquisite thread, including the Fine Line 60-weight thread from dime (Designs in Machine Embroidery). But you can also find it locally in quilt shops and online from retailers like Ken's Sewing Center, Embroidery Designs, The Embroidery Store, Pocono Sew & Vac, and so many more online and retail shops.
My favorite place to buy Exquisite Thread, of course, is directly from dime. But, I have also ordered from Ken's Sewing Center before. Great service there as well!

Test Results
I wanted to test the Fine Line thread before I decided to incorporate it into a project. My testing was pretty limited, but you can see the results below.

Here's what I did for my tests:
- I used a font called December Sky from Designs by JuJu. I used Fine Line thread in the color Blue Pride (#T4004). I simply typed the text using the Embrilliance software and saved it as a PES file. I then copied the file over to my thumb drive and loaded it into my Brother PE770 embroidery machine. (The 770 is no longer available, the 900 is a newer model.) I used cutaway stabilizer in my embroidery hoop. And then used adhesive spray to secure a cotton scrap of fabric to the stabilizer. Then I loaded the hoop, selected my project from my thumb drive and let the design print out. I also used white thread in my bobbin. (Test #1 results are depicted in the bottom of the above picture.)
- In my second test, I switched to a darker thread color and used Fine Line in French Navy (#T5553). And I used the same white thread in my bobbin and followed all the other steps as I did in number 1 above. (Test #2 is featured in the second to the bottom in the above picture.)
- For the third test, I would a bobbin with the same thread that I was using in the top of my machine - Fine Line in French Navy (#T5553). I followed all the other steps as I did in step 1, except I used the same color thread in the bobbin. (Test #3 results are depicted in the second from the top in the below picture).
- Then for my fourth test, I changed out the font. This time I used a font called Levi from Designs by JuJu. (You'll also notice I changed the text slightly.) So, same bobbin thread as the top thread, cutaway stabilizer, and I secured the scrap of cotton fabric to the stabilizer using spray adhesive. (Test #4 results are depicted in the first stitch out in the below picture.)
- So for the fifth test, I changed the stabilizer to Exquisite's Mediumweight Firm Tearaway by dime. That was the only change I made. I used the same thread in the bobbin as the top thread. (Test #5 results are depicted in the second photo below.)

Below depicts the results of my fifth test. For this I used the Medium Weight Firm Tearaway Stabilizer by dime. I still have some jump threads to trim, but otherwise I think it turned out great!

If I wanted to be more thorough in my testing, I would have tried all changes with the same thread, same font, etc. But, I was trying to improve the results with each test.
To summarize, the first test was a little hard to read. I thought it was because of the light blue thread I was using, so I switched out the thread to the darker blue for my second test. I could see a lot of the white bobbin thread. So I would a bobbin with the darker blue and tried my third test. The text still wasn't as clear as I would have liked for it to be, so I changed the font to a print font instead of a script for my fourth and final test.
Actually, my first run wasn't bad. I just thought I could improve on it. It may have helped to if I had used a stabilizer on top.
