Meet the newest member of our family

Lenny and I are super excited and proud to have you meet the newest member of our family. I have to forewarn you though, it’s not another grandchild, it’s not a baby at all – not a human baby anyway. The newest member of our family is a puppy! A German Shepherd puppy named Zoey.

Zoey is a 10-week old German Shepherd puppy. We just got Zoey one week ago (when she was a mere 9-weeks old) and already she has grown so much.

These pictures of Zoey were taken just one week ago. She was born on November 20, 2015. There’s something very special about that day. My Lenny was born on November 20th! {Uhm, quite a few more years ago.} But, he and Zoey share the same birthday.  Pretty cool, huh?

But, Zoey isn’t our only German Shepherd. We also have a 4-1/2 year old male named Remo. We absolutely adore Remo. In fact, I can’t believe there aren’t more pictures of him here on the blog. Lenny’s all the time telling people how I have more pictures of Remo than I do of our children. Well, he’s probably right.

But, Remo’s just so photogenic. Plus, I can tell him to “sit and stay” or “drop and stay” and he does. He’s the perfect photography subject. We take Remo with us everywhere we go. He really is another member of our family. I’m not even sure he knows he’s a dog. This picture above was taken on French River in Northern Ontario near Recollet Falls. Isn’t he beautiful?

There’s something pretty funny about Remo. Ready? He’s a fish licker! Seriously! He loves to lick fish. This picture above was taken last summer on the French River as well. One of us apparently just caught a Great Northern Pike. They are one slimy fish. I mean s l i m y!! And Remo loves to lick them! Although, Remo did get his tongue caught in a Pike’s mouth one time. It’s funny and not funny all at the same time. Pike have teeth. Rows of sharp little teeth. People refer to Pike as fresh water Barracuda. Sharp teeth. And Remo literally got his tongue in the fish’s mouth and got it caught on the Pike’s teeth. He whimpered and just froze and looked at Lenny as if to say, “Dad, help! Please help! My tongue is stuck, dad! Help!” He was pitiful. He didn’t lick anymore fish that day. 🙂

Back to Zoey. I forgot this post was supposed to be all about Zoey. Well, Zoey is adorable. She’s female. Tries to boss Remo around. Did I mention she’s female? They are really cute together. Remo’s not been around too many dogs. Like I said, I’m not sure he knows he’s a dog. But, Zoey, is relentless. She follows him everywhere. Does everything he does. Takes his toys. Eats his food. Eats his treats. Drinks his water. Steals his bed. And makes him play with her. I’m sure he’s wondering when she’s going to go back to wherever she came from.

Here’s Lenny with Remo and Zoey. They were just hanging out in our sunroom/front porch.  We think Remo is just about the most perfect and smartest dog ever. Ever. Zoey has some pretty big paws to follow. But, she is one smart little girl. I can’t believe how much she has learned and grown in one week! {Yes, that’s her crate there behind her. Obviously, Lenny’s already put it together and she actually loves her “den.”}

I’ll be sharing more about our life adventures with Remo and Zoey here on the blog. We’ve really enjoyed having Zoey for all of one week. And Remo is just an intricate part of our lives. Everyone loves him and can’t believe how well-behaved he is. Even our mailman loves Remo.

Do you have a furry family member? If so, I’d love to hear about it!

Til next time…
