Our Home Story Continues with Our Daughter’s Bedroom Renovation

Have I mentioned lately that sometimes things have to get really ugly before you can see the beauty? So, is the story behind our daughter’s bedroom renovation. Below is what her room looked like before the renovation. I actually kind of liked the wallpaper, but it was peeling and it definitely needed to go!

Daughter's bedroom renovation

We (by we I mostly mean my husband) have been working on renovating our home for what seems like forever. We started on this little home renovation journey by renovating our son’s bedroom. Then my husband’s health got in the way and we put things on hold for a while.

We’re not in a hurry to renovate our home, so we’re tackling the whole house one room at a time. Since our daughter is away with the US Navy, her room was the perfect choice for us to renovate after our son’s bedroom. You can read all about his bedroom renovation here.

There were three things about this room that needed to go – drop ceiling, wallpaper and carpet. Otherwise, it is a great little bedroom! There were actually multiple layers of wallpaper that had to be stripped. Overall, I think we counted at least four different layers.

Of course, no project around our house would be possible without the help of our German Shepherd, Remo. He’s our tail-wagging five year old male GSD. He is one amazing dog and a priceless member of our family. But that tail! If there’s wet paint anywhere, his tail is sure to find it!

With the wallpaper (layers and layers) stripped, the drop ceiling removed, the holes patched, walls painted and primed, new doors hung and the floors refinished, our daughter’s bedroom renovation was finally complete.

Our Remo worked hard, too!

We also purchased this Tarva bed from IKEA that we painted white.

I love the way this bedroom turned out. I still have some decorating to do, but when our daughter comes home to visit, she has a nice space to welcome her home.

Til next time…

Hi, Wendy! Thank you! Renovating is a lot of work, creates even more work, but it's definitely worth it in the end! Hope you're making waned progress and not running into too many surprises.

Looks really pretty. I've been doing the same thing around our home too; renovating each room.
