Our Front Door Gets a Fresh Coat of Paint
Although we’ve been busy this week spending time with our nine week old twin grandbabies, I took some time to put a fresh coat of paint on our front door. I love the color, but before I share the new paint color with you, checkout the “before” of our front door:
The door has been this nice shiny red for as long as any of us can remember. Although our front door is pretty well protected from the weather because of our enclosed front porch, the door still gets a lot of abuse. Our first problem we had to tackle with the key lock box. No one could remember the combination, so Lenny got his handy-dandy reciprocating saw and the key box was quickly removed.
Once the key box was removed, I worked on removing the old paint. It was actually pretty easy to remove and, the best part? No chemicals! Yep, most of the paint simply peeled right off. This is a metal door, with bubbling and chipped paint, and I was literally able to peel off most of the red paint. What I couldn’t peel off, I sanded off with fine grit sand paper.
Well, the red paint is history – just like the key box. Here is our new blue door.
I still have a little bit of touch-up to do after removing the painter’s tape around the window, but otherwise, I love the outcome. Blue. Every time I see it, I just like it even more.
It’s kind of hard to take a good picture of our front door because we have an enclosed front porch that’s only about 6′ wide and that just doesn’t allow for me to stand far enough away from the door to get a full picture. But, it doesn’t stop me from trying!
So, what do you think of the blue?
Till next time…
