Instead of simply sharing a list of the top 10 ideas for 2019, I thought it would be better to share with you the top 5 ideas from some of my most popular categories.
Reader Favorite Recipe Ideas
I’m not a “food blogger”, rather I simply share recipe ideas that my family loves. I hope your family will love them, too!
#5 – Small Batch Cupcakes
The perfect recipe for when you want to make a small batch of cupcakes when using box cake mix. What could be easier?!
#4 – Crock Pot Meatballs
It’s kind of funny, but this recipe has been on my top 10 list ever since I shared it. Crock pot meatballs truly are a family favorite. In fact, we whipped up a batch of crock pot meatballs this past Christmas eve.
I am so happy to find that one of my new favorite healthy and Keto dark chocolate muffins recipe made the list for the op recipes shared in 2019 here on The Birch Cottage blog.
You can incorporate this recipe for creamy Parmesan sauce into so many dishes. Plus, it’s way better than what they serve at Olive Garden!
#1 – Super Moist Meatloaf
Do you know the secret to super moist meatloaf? I do! It’s not so much what you put into the meatloaf as what you put in the oven. Come read the recipe to find out what I’m talking about!

One of the most popular (and one of my favorite) craft ideas that I shared on Ideas for the Home by Kenarry was how to paint terra cotta pots. So, it’s no surprise that the most popular craft post here on The Birch Cottage blog is this collection of terra cotta pot ideas.
Reader Favorite Crochet Ideas
I love to crochet and I have been so happy to share these easy to follow tutorials, patterns and even a few crochet videos.
#5 – Crochet a Pumpkin
I love fall and I was so glad to share several crochet pumpkin patterns this past year. This was the original crocheted pumpkin pattern that I shared.
I have started creating a series of crochet tutorials that are perfect for beginners or anyone needing a refresher or maybe even wanting to learn how to crochet a new stitch. The Magic Circle is my favorite way to start crochet patterns that start with a circle.
I just love crocheting with the Moss Stitch. The Birch Cottage Dish Towel beautifully incorporates the use of this easy to crochet stitch.
When you’re working with yarn in bright or contrasting colors, the first thing you’ll want to do is to colorfast your yarn so that the colors don’t bleed.
The most popular crochet pattern on The Birch Cottage blog for 2019 was the crunchy stitch dishcloth. This pattern works up so quickly and makes for a wonderful dishcloth.
Reader Favorite Sewing Ideas
As far as I’m concerned, there never seems to be enough time to sew all the things I want to sew. I try to make things that my adult children can use in their homes, so that occupies a lot of my sewing time.
These sewing ideas also happen to be some of my family’s favorites, too!
I love aprons and I think there has been a resurgence in the use of aprons in the recent past. I’m so glad! I put together a collection of 24 fun apron patterns and The Birch Cottage readers really enjoyed learning about these sources.
Winter and flannel just seem to go together. I rounded up a collection of flannel sewing project ideas and you all seemed to love them as much as I did.
Sewing a pillow case is not only a beginner friendly project, but it allows you to create a custom gift.
#2 – Easy Sew Fabric Bin
I first shared this fabric bin tutorial last December. It’s another fun sewing project where your design options are endless. I’ve even seen where people have made custom flower pot covers simply by sewing up some of these fabric bins.
And the most popular sewing tutorial on The Birch Cottage blog just so happens to be a favorite of my family as well. These bowl cozies are adorable, usable, practical and downright amazing!
Plus, the instructions come with a set of free printable care tags.
You’ll find the printable bowl cozy care tags in the Subscribers Resource Library. The Library is full of free printables, like the care tags, that are available exclusively to subscribers.
Once you confirm your subscription, you will receive an email from The Birch Cottage with a link to the Subscribers Resource Library (which is really a shared Google Drive Folder).
Reader Favorite Printables
I never know for sure when I share printables here on The Birch Cottage just how much my readers might like them. I have found through the years that the more practical the printables, the more they’re liked.
This post shares where to find vintage botanical illustrations and how to use them in your home decor projects. I love all the vintage illustrations and I’m glad these are a reader favorite, too!
Homemade hand warmers are such a practical and unexpected gift that the recipient will just love. These printable care tags tell the recipient exactly how to use their homemade hand warmers.

#1 – Bunco Score Cards
Imagine my surprise when I share this set of printable Bunco score cards and everyone loved them as much as I enjoyed creating them. I haven’t played Bunco in years, but I have very fond memories of playing this fun dice game with my girlfriends years ago. Maybe it’s time to re-introduce this game to my friends?
Which idea was your favorite? Which idea will you try next? That’s always the question, isn’t it?! Thanks for visiting The Birch Cottage blog. After all, it’s your continued and repeated visits that makes it possible for me to continue to share ideas for crafting a handmade home possible.
