Shortly after I started The Birch Cottage blog, we found out that our oldest son and his wife were expecting. We were going to be grandparents! A very short time later, we were told that we would soon become the grandparents to twins.
Jennifer actually carried the twins full term. Our little Pearl was born first, followed within minutes by her sister Cora. To say our lives have never been the same is quite an understatement.
These little girls are full of innocence, wonder and pure love. They fill our home with loud squeals (you know those ear piercing squeals that only little girls seem to know how to do), laughter, sticky fingers, hugs, artwork and sippy cups.
They love to bake cake for their Pawpaw, finger paint and jump on our beds. Cora and Remo (our German Shepherd) have a special bond. It’s absolutely adorable to watch those two interact with one another. Our GSD Zoey is also very protective of the girls. Did you know taking a bath is a dangerous activity? Seriously. Our dogs fret and fret when the girls take a bath.
You’ll usually find Remo as close as he can possibly get to the girls and Zoey nearby keeping a watchful eye. They are just all too cute together!
As the girls celebrated their third birthdays, I couldn’t help but reflect back on my own childhood and my sister Cindy. Cindy and I were pretty inseparable growing up. I was a whole year and a half older than her. We often shared clothes, shoes and even the same bed or bedroom.
So, I created this “Sisters” print in honor of the girls 3rd birthday. You don’t have to have twins for this print to be applicable. I hope you find it charming and worthy of displaying in your home.
