Last week I shared my new favorite Pumpkin Bread recipe for the bread machine. Although I already shared this pumpkin recipe card with you in that post, I wanted to talk to you a little more about this pumpkin recipe card – or recipe cards in general – and to remind you to download your free watercolor pumpkin recipe card.
These printable watercolor pumpkin recipe cards are 4″x6″ recipe cards. I created a front and a back and you can download and print however you choose.
You know, I love making handmade gifts and I also really enjoy receiving handmade and homemade gifts. In fact, my husband and I have really encouraged our children to give more handmade gifts for Christmas, birthdays and other holidays. Christmas is quite different for our family than what it was 10 or 15 years ago when our children were all still at home.
You see, we both used to have much higher paying jobs. I worked as a web developer (no kidding!) and my husband had his own technology consulting company and was the CIO for a large prominent company. Then life happened. My husband was faced with a life changing illness shortly after the death of his father. What’s so ironic is that we look back on that time in our lives as sort of a wake up call to appreciate the things in life that were really important. Things with names like Heather, Stephanie, Brandon, Phillip, Morgan, Kristen and Owen. Suddenly, monetary things didn’t seem as important as simply spending time with the ones we love and creating memories that will last a lifetime.
None of us knows what the future holds. There are no promises of tomorrow. Only hope for today. So we live our lives with a lot less money and a lot more time with our children and grandchildren now. My husband feels bad sometimes because we can’t buy our children everything they want. But you know what, I don’t think they miss those days. And I’m quite positive they enjoy the time and effort we put into being truly present in their lives today.
I think that’s why I’m so passionate about handmade gifts. Not just because it saves us money, but because it allows us an opportunity to give a part of ourselves. I know personally that some of the “things” I cherish most are those things that were made by my mother’s own hands. I have a doily that she crocheted that my sister so graciously matted and framed for me. I admire it and cherish it more with each passing day. I hope the handmade gifts we make for our children will be cherished by them for years to come.

Well, I shared with you much more than I had intended. I really just wanted to tell you what a great gift these printable recipe cards make. Whether you print out a stack on nice card stock paper, tie some twine around them or stick them in a recipe box or binder. Or maybe you hand write a recipe for Pumpkin Bread and gift the recipe card along with a loaf of homemade bread.
Recipe cards make a great handmade gift. Don’t you think this is a great handmade gift idea? You know, one of our family’s favorite handmade gifts is from our daughters Morgan and Stephanie. Morgan bakes everyone Mexican Wedding Cakes every year for Christmas. We all know what gift we’re going to receive from her and, let me tell you, it doesn’t take away from the anticipation of opening that gift one bit! In fact, the gift barely makes it through Christmas day! Stephanie, also gifts a variety of homemade cookies. Each year, they get better and more!! We love the fact that they enjoy making the cookies and we definitely enjoy receiving them as a gift.

Like I said, these Watercolor Pumpkin Recipe Cards come with a front and back and are 4″x6″ recipe cards. You can choose to print just the front and leave the back of your recipe card blank or print the back as well (two-sided printing) so you have a lined area for writing more detailed instructions.
