Will Write for Food: A Book Review!

On the rare occasion when I find myself with nothing urgent that needs to be tended to, no crisis that needs to be diverted, and no place we “have” to be, I like to read. Actually, I like to read anytime I’m idle and I like to read before I go to bed at night. I used to curl up with a good book (literally), now I curl up with my Kindle. Since I’ve embarked on this blogging journey, it’s been important to me to learn as much as I can about blogging so I can be a better blogger.

Obviously, writing is a BIG part of blogging. If I want to be a better blogger, it would only stand to reason that I must also become a better writer. I just finished reading a book entitled, Will Write for Food by Dianne Jacob. I literally speed read through the whole book in a relatively short amount of time – adding bookmarks to those pages, ideas or sections I wanted to come back to. First, I have to say I was really surprised by the amount of information contained in this book.

Dianne Jacob doesn’t beat around the bush. But, at the same time, she gives you food for thought, followed by writing exercises. I think this book is a great read. Especially if you’re interested about developing better writing skills for a food blog or if you’re interested in freelancing.

Here’s what Ree Drummond from The Pioneer Woman had to say about the book:

I wish I’d read Dianne’s book before I started a tiny little food blog on a whim years ago. For current and aspiring food writers, it’s positively dropping with helpful advise and information.”
